Moving our Mission Forward:

Barton College is committed to providing programs and opportunities to encourage the intellectual, spiritual, and cultural development of its students and to challenge them for future leadership and service to their local and global communities.

About this Initiative:

Student advising, first year experience,, including the First Year Seminar, and career planning are all important elements of the Barton Experience. Our Office of Academic and Career Planning guides each student through every stage of their journey – from choosing a major to preparing for their first job interview. This office also serves alumni as well as manages New Student Orientation and our International initiatives.

Personal Messages

"Our work begins even before our students step on campus. In partnership with faculty, we build programs and resources that help students design their path, learn through experiences, and prepare to launch into work and community beyond Barton. It is our passion to guide our students toward their purpose!"

Message from Ashley Williford, senior Exercise Science major:

“The staff of the Office of Academic and Career planning has instilled confidence in me that I can be a strong leader and a valuable member of a team. They have each allowed me to learn through doing within the office and have taken the time to teach me skills on a one-on-one basis. I have learned valuable professional and life skills through these staff members and have gained a level of leadership that I never thought to be possible.”
