About Student Engagement

The Office of Student Engagement offers a broad array of programming and professional services to promote students’ safety, wellness, and comfort and to encourage personal responsibility. Student Engagement is comprised of Residential Life, Student Health Services, Culinary Services, Campus Safety, Greek Life, Spiritual Life, and Student Conduct.

The Impact of Giving

Gifts of $50 could provide give aways for a spirit game.

Gifts of $100 could register members of SGA for a conference.

Gifts of $1,000 could provide a band for a campus life event.

Gifts of $5,000 would provide a retreat for our entire first-year students at the coast, where some of the students may have never been to the beach.

Message from Jennifer High '09, '16, Dean of Student and Executive Director of Health Services

"Barton College is such a special place that brings hope, joy and light to many. It is a privilege each day to walk alongside our students to support, encourage and show them unending love and kindness. The authentic connections created on-campus with our students is important and valuable work. We have the honor of celebrating accomplishments as well as offering encouragement and a place of refuge on challenging days. These connections are everlasting and have an endless impression on our students. Every conversation, every smile, every wave matters."

Why Your Gift Matters

From Comedians to Hypnotists, from the Homecoming Dance to live music at our Tailgates; engaging our students are what it is all about. Providing experiences where our students can connect with their friends and our community is our goal. Being involved in SGA, becoming an RA for your residence hall, participating in Greek Life and making life-long friendships, or leading a worship service where you create the content as a student, are all experiences that contribute to a co-curricular environment that makes a difference in someone's life.

When our students graduate and are interviewing for their jobs, not too many employers are going to ask, "Why did you make a B in your history course," but they may ask, "talk about about an experience where you had to deal with a conflict and how you handled it?" This is when our students will look back and reflect on their co-curricular involvement.

Help us foster these experiences and opportunities that will advance our students.
